Save the Bears

care2 petitionsite actionAlert

Dear KennyWennyPenny,

It's not just wildlife like bears, whales, seals and eagles that inhabit Alaska's Bristol Bay. It's also Native communities that have thrived there for thousands of years.

There are too many negative consequences of an open-pit mine in Bristol Bay. Watch the video and sign the petition today! »

Plans are in the works to dig one of the world's biggest open-pit mines in this ecosystem. This 2,000-foot-teep, two-mile-long gold and copper mine would be dug on state land, right next to 1.1 million acres of federal public lands.
Mining is just dirty. There's no other way to describe it. Mining waste falls into the water, dams are built that damage ecosystems, and wildlife inevitably suffers. Please tell Bureau of Land Management Director Bob Abbey that you are strongly opposed to this plan.
Thank you for taking action!
